One of my dearest friends, Daniel Bezerra, is the man behind the musician Foxgloves.
His music is reminiscent of those like American Football and honestly I think he's not
gotten the recognition he deserves. Recently he reached out to me to design merch for
his music and I could not have been more glad to.
The first iteration
is a nod to the style of show fliers he usually posts, with a gothic
font and dotted black animal graphics. The shirt is similar, sporting a foxglove on the
front and the lyrics to his song
i heard the owen sound.
The second iteration
utilizes a hand-drawn feel, featuring a fox named Gimlet. The
shirt is similarly simple, with a front graphic and nothing on its back.
However, Dan's favourite seems to be the
third iteration,
which is similar to the first
in its fonts. However, this time it's paired images with white graphics. The shirt
design uses the cover art to his song
Vestigial Trace
(also drawn by me) and the
initials "VT" on the front.
My personal favourite is probably the first iteration, but the third iteration is a close
second. I had a wonderful time designing each of these iterations, and would love to be
able to do more complex designs (if Dan's merchandising budget allows it). Until then,
we stick with graphic tees and sweats like it's the 90's!
